Mature blue oak trees dot the sloping terrain of this northern California site and served as inspiration for the landscape design. The oak woodland understory has been extended with a native plant palette which includes red-trunked madrones and manzanitas. Golden rammed earth landscape walls express the grade changes and connect buildings to landscape and landscape to the site. Two rectangles of water - a shallow 60-foot long granite pool/fountain and a dark infinity pool mirror the trees and sky. Images in the water constantly morph as one moves around the site and as light conditions change throughout the day and seasons.
